Meet Rick (not his real name) When I met Rick for our initial meeting he was miserable. At age 43, 5’10” and 278 pounds he had good reason to be miserable. After speaking with him for about 20 minutes, I had a good idea as to why he was so overweight. Rick owns his own air-conditioning business and has gone from working in the field to working in the office. Not only that, he didn’t eat much during the day unless he was out checking on job sites, and then it was fast food, burger, fries and many cokes throughout the day. Water? NEVER. When he would eat dinner, it was always 2 plates full and then he admitted that he grazed from after dinner to bedtime. He ate whatever he wanted and woke up with sore knees, sore back, and no energy every day. I commend Rick for taking the giant step towards health. He has a beautiful family and has embraced fitness. He immediately signed on for my eating plan, high protein, and low carbs. Kept a food diary and really got into working out. We started on February 19th, we met twice a week for 10 weeks (he never missed a workout) and the other days he was faithful to his cardio. The best part is that his BMI went from 39.97 percent, a dangerous stat, to 34.65, and his body fat dropped from 36.68 percent to 33.09. Rick has reduced his body fat, cut just under 14 percent of his total body weight, while building fat-burning, lean muscle mass, and in only ten weeks. To say Rick has embraced fitness would be an understatement. He has actually purchased a bench, a straight bar with weight plates and a set of power dumbbells. I can’t tell you how proud I am and I know he’s sticking to it. You see his dad is obese and a diabetic and just had part of his leg amputated. I will always remember Rick saying I don’t want to end up like that. Well, you won’t, thanks to your dedication and consistency!!! Here is a chart of Rick’s progress: |

Meet Colene Meet Colene or as I refer to her “small but mighty.” Colene started with me on September 17, 2007 and has been faithful student ever since. She’s a tiny gal, just 4’10”, but a stronger woman you will never find. I don’t only mean muscle strength (which she has); I mean strength of spirit and DETERMINATION. As you will see by her progress chart below it took a while for things to kick in. I knew she’d make great progress; she listened and implemented good eating habits into her daily life. She knows now that it takes 3 things to achieve your fitness goals; good eating habits, strength training and cardiovascular exercise.
Below is Colene at her heaviest, shortly before we met.
